Sustainability at Homewatch

Sustainability has become an important part of Homewatch and is something we always relate back to in everything that we do. We are always aiming to do better and to understand and better our impact on the environment.

Sustainable Uniforms

We’ve looked into what the impact the uniforms our engineers wear, could be making. We only provide our engineers with 100% sustainability sourced cotton uniforms. Not only do they look smart but their production is also causing minimal harm to the earth.

Renewable Energy

It takes a lot of energy to power our head offices! We’ve therefore switched our energy provider to one that is fuelled solely by renewable resources, such as solar, wind and hydraulics. We are actively trying to lower our carbon footprint and this is a big step in trying to get it as low as we possibly can.

Electric Vans

Switching our fleet to electric has been a major contributor to us becoming a more sustainable company and reducing our carbon footprint. We are aiming to be completely electric by 2023 and since 2020, only electric vehicles have been purchased, both company cars and engineer vans!

We were incredibly conscious of our company’s level of carbon emissions, with our engineers driving hundreds of miles every week to carry out home security installations and maintenance visits. By switching to electric, we’ve been able to eliminate nearly all our company vehicle emissions!

EV Charge Points

As we made the switch to electric vehicles, we also had to consider how this was going to impact our logistics and the way we operate. Engineers would need charge points installed at their homes and we would need to split the electricity used for work and personal use. This raised a lot of questions, but with the help of our charging partner, eFaraday, we were able to create a clear EV charge point strategy that took into account the ways we work and what we wanted to achieve.

As well as fleet charging units, eFaraday also installed EV office charging points to provide engineers, our employees and visitors the opportunity to charge up their electric vehicles. eFaraday made the process simple and also provide us with ongoing monitoring of all our charge points (fleet and workplace), to allow for efficient maintenance if needed and full reporting so that we have key data on how we are operating in terms of efficiency, cost and carbon footprint.

A Sustainable Future

At Homewatch, we are always looking to do things in a more sustainable way. From the energy sources we choose, to an electric fleet, we are committed to playing our part in protecting our planet whilst becoming a greener and more sustainable company.
